Sequoia Choice Distance Learning students, who are not working from a Lab site, must have daily access to a telephone and an adequately equipped computer with Internet access (see below).
Students need to have basic computer skills, including:
- Fundamental typing
- Emailing
- Sending and receiving email attachments
- Copy and paste
Choice computer standards for the student who is studying at home:
Required Minimum
- Hardware
- Pentium 233 MMX or comparable
- CD Rom
- Thirty-two (32) MB RAM
- Modem – 56.6 KBPS
- Monitor and video card capable of VGA (800 by 600) resolution and 256 colors
- Mouse
- Keyboard
- Software
- Word processing software (not Notepad or Word Pad) such as OpenOffice.org or Microsoft Word
- Java plug-in1.5.0_02
- Real 1 Player (latest version)
- Netscape (latest version), Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox
- Flash plug-in
Strongly Recommended Minimum
- Hardware
- Pentium II class 300 MHE or comparable
- Sixty-four (64) MB RAM
- CD ROM 16X or greater
- Modem – 256 KBPS
- High-speed Internet connection
- Fifteen inch (15”) or larger monitor and video capable of VGA (800 by 600) resolution and 256 colors

- Keyboard
- Apple computers are not compatible across the board with the website's programming that is linux based.
